Overview

Bufferin A81 is a buffered aspirin combination tablet originally developed by Lion Co., Ltd. It contains 81 mg of aspirin as the active antiplatelet agent, combined with a buffering agent known as dialuminate (a mixture of aluminum glycinate and heavy magnesium carbonate) to mitigate gastrointestinal side effects. Aspirin acts by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), thereby reducing the production of thromboxane A2 and inhibiting platelet aggregation. The product is indicated for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions, including angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and ischemic stroke, as well as Kawasaki disease. Zhejiang Huahai Pharmaceutical is currently developing a generic version in China.
