Overview
Aspirin + CS-DOX is a combination nanoformulation composed of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and chondroitin sulfate-conjugated doxorubicin (CS-DOX), an anthracycline chemotherapy agent. In this formulation, doxorubicin is covalently linked to chondroitin sulfate via a hydrazone bond, and aspirin is encapsulated within the CS-DOX nanoparticle, resulting in a pH-responsive delivery system. This combination is designed to leverage the anti-platelet and anti-inflammatory properties of aspirin alongside the cytotoxic effects of doxorubicin for synergistic antitumor activity, particularly targeting breast cancer and metastasis by inhibiting platelet function, tumor growth, angiogenesis, and extracellular matrix remodeling[1].
