Overview
Aspirin + prasugrel is a dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) used to prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. This combination is particularly used in patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Prasugrel blocks the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets, while aspirin interferes with platelet functioning through its antithrombotic action. Together, they provide more effective prevention of blood clot formation than either medication alone.
