Overview

Aspoxicillin is an injectable, acylaminopenicillin antibiotic synthesized from amoxicillin. It belongs to the penicillin family and exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including some β-lactamase-producing strains. Aspoxicillin is more active than carbenicillin against Pseudomonas aeruginosa but less active than piperacillin against Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Enterobacteriaceae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is not absorbed when administered orally; therefore, it is used via intravenous infusion with a plasma half-life of approximately 87 minutes after IV administration. Clinically, aspoxicillin has been used in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections in adults and children, as well as in combination with aminoglycosides for gynecological infections and infections in patients with hematological disorders[6][8].
