Overview

Asprosin neutralizing antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to bind and neutralize **asprosin**, a glucogenic and orexigenic hormone that is elevated in metabolic syndrome and obesity. Asprosin acts primarily in the liver (promoting hepatic glucose release via binding to the olfactory receptor OR4M1) and in the brain (stimulating appetite through AgRP neuron activation)[3][5]. Genetically or pharmacologically blocking asprosin leads to reduced appetite, body weight, and blood glucose burden. The antibody has shown preclinical efficacy in lowering appetite, body weight, and blood glucose in mouse models of metabolic syndrome and diet-induced obesity, with an IC50 of approximately 1.5 mg/kg and in vivo half-life exceeding three days[1][3][5]. The mechanism of action is direct neutralization of circulating asprosin, preventing its receptor-mediated effects. The main therapeutic indications are metabolic syndrome, obesity, hyperglycemia, and binge eating disorders, with exploratory studies in type 2 diabetes and hypertension[7][9]. These antibodies are currently in preclinical development.
