AST-003 is a small molecule targeted conjugate (SMDC) being developed by Ascentawits Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of esophageal cancer and gastric cancer. The drug is designed using the company's proprietary technology platform, which conjugates a small-molecule targeting fragment to a cytotoxic or chemotherapy payload. This approach aims to selectively deliver the therapeutic agent to tumor cells, potentially enhancing efficacy while minimizing systemic side effects compared to traditional chemotherapy. As of early 2024, AST-003 is in the preclinical registration study phase, moving toward Investigational New Drug (IND) filing.
