AST-021p is an investigational therapeutic cancer vaccine developed by Aston Sci. It is composed of two different peptides derived from HLA class II binding epitopes of the human heat shock protein 90 (HSP90). The vaccine is designed to activate antigen-specific CD4+ Th1 cells, thereby inducing a type 1 helper T cell immune response that enhances anti-tumor immunity. Preclinical and early clinical studies have demonstrated its immunogenicity and tumor growth inhibitory effects, particularly when combined with Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonist adjuvants such as TLR-2/3 ligands. AST-021p is being evaluated for the treatment of advanced or recurrent solid tumors in patients who have no standard treatment options available[2][3][5][6].
