Overview

AST-031 is a small molecule selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (NRI) being developed by Astrogen for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It functions by binding to the norepinephrine transporter (NET), preventing the reuptake of norepinephrine into the presynaptic neuron and thereby increasing neurotransmitter levels in the synaptic cleft. This non-stimulant approach is intended to improve focus and reduce impulsivity in ADHD patients. The candidate is currently in the IND-enabling preclinical stage, with plans to enter clinical trials in 2026.
