Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AST-Cw-3 is a preclinical-stage parasiticide candidate being developed by ASTRA Therapeutics for the treatment of worm infections (helminthiasis) in companion animals, such as dogs and cats. Generated using the company's proprietary ParaX® drug discovery platform, AST-Cw-3 belongs to a novel class of species-specific parasite inhibitors known as Parabulins®. The drug is designed to selectively target and disrupt parasite tubulin, a key protein essential for microtubule formation and cell division, while sparing the host's cells. This precision-engineered approach aims to overcome the growing challenge of drug resistance in veterinary parasitology.
