Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination nutraceutical supplement containing **astaxanthin**, **grape juice extract**, and **vitamin E**. Astaxanthin is a potent lipophilic carotenoid antioxidant derived mainly from microalgae (*Haematococcus pluvialis*), which helps neutralize free radicals and cellular oxidative stress, with demonstrated benefits for cardiovascular health, skin health, eye health, and immune support. Grape juice extract is rich in polyphenolic antioxidants (notably oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes, OPCs), contributing to vascular protection, collagen support, neuroprotection, and additional antioxidant activity. Vitamin E (commonly as d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate) is a fat-soluble vitamin acting as an essential chain-breaking antioxidant within biological membranes. Mechanistically, this combination acts primarily through enhancement of antioxidant capacity, scavenging reactive oxygen species, reduction of lipid peroxidation, and mitigation of inflammation. This combination, recently evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, was associated with improved episodic memory and positive changes in biomarkers of cognitive and skin health in adults with subjective cognitive complaints, but not with changes in working memory or verbal learning. No single brand or unique trade name appears to exist for this precise three-ingredient formulation; it is marketed as a dietary supplement by various nutritional and wellness companies[2][4][5][3][1].
