ASTED

ASTED is an investigator-developed, oral fixed-dose antioxidant vitamin-and-mineral supplement for thyroid eye disease. It combines beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E as alpha-tocopherol acetate, calcium phosphate dihydrate, zinc oxide, copper gluconate, sodium selenite, and nicotinamide. Its proposed therapeutic rationale is to reduce oxidative stress and support endogenous antioxidant defenses implicated in thyroid eye disease; it has no single defined molecular drug target. ASTED was evaluated in randomized placebo-controlled phase 2/3 studies in mild and moderate-to-severe thyroid eye disease sponsored by Iran University of Medical Sciences.
