aStem-M-UC is an investigational cell therapy product composed of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs). Developed by Shanghai Changhai Hospital in collaboration with Shanghai aStem Biomedical Technology, it is specifically designed for the treatment of deep second-degree burns. The therapy is administered via local injection into the burn site, where the MSCs exert their therapeutic effects through paracrine signaling and immunomodulation. By secreting a variety of bioactive factors, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), and anti-inflammatory cytokines, aStem-M-UC aims to accelerate wound re-epithelialization, promote angiogenesis, and reduce the formation of hypertrophic scars. The product is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy in improving healing outcomes for severe burn injuries.
