Overview
Astragaloside II is a cycloartane-type triterpene glycoside (saponin) isolated from Astragalus membranaceus. It exhibits pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, and tissue repair promotion. Astragaloside II modulates mitochondrial dynamics and autophagy in podocyte injury (particularly in diabetic nephropathy), enhances antioxidative stress via Nrf2 pathway activation, induces mitophagy through PINK1-Parkin signaling, and promotes intestinal epithelial repair by increasing L-arginine uptake and activating the mTOR signaling pathway. These mechanisms may provide novel therapeutic strategies for inflammatory, renal, and gastrointestinal diseases[1][3][4].
