Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Astragalus injection + Doushen Tang is a combination therapy consisting of an intravenous or intramuscular injection of *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi) extract and an oral Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction known as Doushen Tang. Developed and primarily utilized by researchers at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, this regimen is specifically indicated for the treatment of myasthenia gravis (MG). The therapy functions through immunomodulatory mechanisms, aiming to restore the balance of T-lymphocyte subsets (specifically regulating Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg ratios) and reducing the serum levels of pathogenic acetylcholine receptor antibodies (AChR-Ab). Astragalus is recognized in TCM for its Qi-tonifying properties and its ability to enhance immune function, while Doushen Tang is a specialized hospital-developed formula tailored to address the underlying deficiencies associated with MG.
