Overview

Astressin B is a potent, long-acting peptide antagonist of the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) receptors, specifically targeting both CRF1 and CRF2. Developed by Sentia Medical Sciences in collaboration with the Salk Institute, it is designed to modulate the body's stress response system, which is often dysregulated in various gastrointestinal and endocrine disorders. The drug is currently in preclinical development (IND-enabling phase) for indications including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Postoperative Ileus (POI), Gastroparesis, and Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH). Preclinical safety studies in multiple species have shown no adverse effects under basal conditions, supporting its potential as a therapeutic for stress-related conditions.
