Overview

AT-012 is a caninized monoclonal antibody that was developed for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs. It functions by targeting and neutralizing interleukin-31 (IL-31), a cytokine that plays a central role in the signaling of itch (pruritus) and inflammation associated with skin diseases. By inhibiting the binding of IL-31 to its receptor complex on peripheral neurons and immune cells, AT-012 aimed to provide relief from the clinical signs of canine atopic dermatitis. The drug was part of the pipeline at Aratana Therapeutics; however, development was discontinued in 2016 following the market entry of a competing IL-31 antibody (lokivetmab) and a strategic shift in the company's portfolio focus.
