Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AT-1459 is a small molecule, orally active direct thrombin inhibitor (Ki = 4.9 nM) originally developed by JW C&C Research Lab (formerly C&C Research Laboratories, a joint venture between JW Pharmaceutical and Chugai Pharmaceutical). It was investigated as an antithrombotic agent for the prevention and treatment of venous and arterial thrombosis. In preclinical animal models of thrombosis, AT-1459 demonstrated potent antithrombotic efficacy with a rapid onset of action and a favorable bleeding profile compared to standard anticoagulants like argatroban and dalteparin. However, active clinical development of this compound has been discontinued.
