Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AT-587 is an orally bioavailable, direct-acting antiviral (DAA) agent being developed by Atea Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection. It is designed to target single-stranded RNA (ssRNA) viruses, demonstrating high potency against HEV in vitro. The drug aims to address the unmet medical need for effective HEV therapies, particularly for immunocompromised patients who are at risk of chronic infection and liver complications. Atea Pharmaceuticals expects to initiate a Phase 1 clinical program for AT-587 in mid-2026.
