Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AT06A is a peptide-based therapeutic vaccine candidate developed to treat hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis by inducing an immune response against proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). By generating PCSK9-specific antibodies, the vaccine aims to increase LDL receptor density and enhance clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLc) from the bloodstream. In phase 1 clinical trials, AT06A was shown to be safe and immunogenic; however, it did not demonstrate significant LDLc-lowering activity compared to placebo. The drug is being developed by AFFiRiS AG as part of their AFFITOPE® platform[1][5][6].
