AT7687

AT7687 is a peptide-based antagonist of the gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), also known as the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor. Developed by Antag Therapeutics, a Danish biotechnology company, the drug is designed to treat obesity and related cardiometabolic disorders. While many obesity treatments utilize GIPR agonism, AT7687's antagonistic approach is based on the observation that GIP signaling may promote fat storage, and blocking this pathway could facilitate weight loss. The candidate has received Investigational New Drug (IND) clearance and is entering clinical development for use as both a monotherapy and in combination with other metabolic therapies, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists.
