Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AT_1005 is a nanoparticle-based therapeutic candidate being developed by Ahead Therapeutics for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The drug is part of a platform that utilizes synthetic nanoparticles designed to mimic apoptotic cells (apoptotic-cell-mimicking nanoparticles). These nanoparticles are engineered to deliver specific autoantigens to the immune system to induce immune tolerance rather than an inflammatory response. The mechanism of action involves the reprogramming of dendritic cells into a tolerogenic state, which subsequently promotes the differentiation and expansion of antigen-specific regulatory T cells (Tregs). This approach aims to restore immune homeostasis and prevent the autoimmune attack on joint tissues. As of mid-2023, AT_1005 is in the IND-enabling stage of development.
