Overview

Atavistic Chemotherapy is a combination treatment approach developed by Dr. Frank Arguello at the Dr. Frank Arguello Cancer Clinic for the treatment of advanced, metastatic, and incurable cancers. The therapy is based on the "atavistic metamorphosis" theory, which posits that cancer cells are cells that have evolutionarily reverted to behave like primitive single-celled organisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. Consequently, the protocol utilizes a combination of repurposed, FDA-approved antimicrobial agents—including antibacterial, antifungal, and antiprotozoal drugs—to target these "atavistic" traits. Specific agents used in the protocol include doxycycline, itraconazole, chloroquine, and mebendazole, among others. The approach has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for various lethal cancers, though it remains a controversial strategy within the broader oncology community due to the unconventional nature of its underlying theory.
