Overview

Atazanavir + ritonavir is a fixed-dose combination antiretroviral medication used in the treatment of HIV/AIDS. It combines two small molecule drugs: atazanavir, a protease inhibitor that blocks the activity of HIV protease enzyme required for viral replication, and ritonavir, which acts primarily as a pharmacokinetic enhancer by inhibiting cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4), thereby increasing plasma concentrations of atazanavir.
