Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Atengood 50 AM is a fixed-dose combination tablet developed by GoodMed Healthcare for the management of hypertension. It contains 50 mg of atenolol, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, and 5 mg of amlodipine, a dihydropyridine L-type calcium channel blocker. Atenolol works by reducing heart rate and cardiac output, while amlodipine promotes vasodilation by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells. This combination provides a synergistic effect, improving blood pressure control in patients who require multiple agents to reach therapeutic targets.
