Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aterodinol is a multi-component nutraceutical developed by NutriMed Group, designed for the management of lipid profiles and the prevention of atherosclerosis. Its primary active ingredients include red yeast rice extract (standardized for monacolin K), policosanol, and coenzyme Q10. Monacolin K functions as a natural inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in endogenous cholesterol synthesis, effectively lowering LDL cholesterol levels. Policosanol is included to further support healthy lipid metabolism, while coenzyme Q10 provides antioxidant protection and helps maintain cellular energy production, particularly as HMG-CoA reductase inhibition can deplete natural CoQ10 levels. It is marketed in Ukraine as a functional food supplement for cardiovascular health.
