Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Atezolizumab + erlotinib is a combination therapy that pairs a PD-L1 inhibitor (atezolizumab) with an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (erlotinib). This combination was developed to enhance antitumor immunity and extend efficacy in patients with EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Atezolizumab works by blocking PD-L1, preventing its interaction with PD-1 and B7-1 receptors, thereby removing inhibition of immune responses. Erlotinib blocks the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), inhibiting the tyrosine kinase enzyme and interrupting signaling pathways that drive cancer progression.
