atezolizumab + gemcitabine

Atezolizumab + gemcitabine is a combination regimen of two drugs used primarily in oncology. Atezolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), blocking its interaction with PD-1 and B7.1 receptors, thereby enhancing T-cell–mediated immune responses against tumor cells. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. This combination has been studied as part of first-line or neoadjuvant therapy for various cancers, including muscle-invasive bladder cancer and advanced/metastatic urothelial carcinoma, often in conjunction with platinum agents such as cisplatin or carboplatin[1][3][7]. The regimen aims to leverage the immunomodulatory effects of checkpoint inhibition alongside the cytotoxic activity of chemotherapy.
