Atezolizumab + paclitaxel is a combination regimen used in cancer therapy, most notably for certain types of breast cancer. Atezolizumab is a monoclonal antibody immunotherapy classified as a checkpoint inhibitor; it targets and blocks the PD-L1 protein on tumor cells, thereby enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy cancer cells. Paclitaxel is a chemotherapy agent that inhibits cell division by stabilizing microtubules, preventing mitosis and leading to cell death. While atezolizumab in combination with nab-paclitaxel (albumin-bound paclitaxel) has received regulatory approval for use in advanced triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) expressing PD-L1, the specific combination of atezolizumab with standard (non-albumin-bound) paclitaxel has not been approved for this indication due to lack of demonstrated efficacy and potential safety concerns[5][6]. The two drugs are administered intravenously.
