Overview

atezolizumab + temozolomide is a combination regimen involving two pharmaceutical drugs: atezolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), and temozolomide, an oral alkylating agent of the imidazotetrazine class. Atezolizumab works by inhibiting the PD-L1 immune checkpoint, thereby promoting T-cell mediated immune responses against tumor cells. Temozolomide acts as a DNA methylating (alkylating) agent, damaging tumor cell DNA and leading to cell death. This combination is under investigation primarily for cancers such as small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and glioblastoma, aiming to combine immunotherapeutic and cytotoxic mechanisms for enhanced antitumor efficacy[1][3][4][7].
