Overview

Atezolizumab + trastuzumab + vinorelbine is a combination regimen under investigation for the treatment of HER2-positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Atezolizumab (Tecentriq) is a monoclonal antibody that targets programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy cancer cells. Trastuzumab (Herceptin) is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), inhibiting proliferation of tumor cells that overexpress this protein. Vinorelbine (Navelbine) is a small molecule chemotherapy agent from the vinca alkaloid class that disrupts microtubule formation during cell division, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. This combination aims to leverage immune checkpoint inhibition with targeted anti-HER2 therapy and cytotoxic chemotherapy for patients whose disease has progressed despite prior anti-HER2 treatments[1][4].
