Overview

ATG is a marketed generic combination syrup developed by Numark Laboratories, an Indian pharmaceutical company. The formulation contains three active small molecule ingredients: ambroxol hydrochloride (15 mg), terbutaline sulphate (1.25 mg), and guaifenesin. Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic agent that facilitates the breakdown of thick mucus by reducing its viscosity. Terbutaline is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that functions as a bronchodilator, relaxing airway smooth muscle to improve airflow. Guaifenesin serves as an expectorant, increasing the volume and reducing the tenacity of respiratory tract secretions to aid in their clearance via ciliary action and coughing. ATG is primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of respiratory conditions characterized by productive cough and bronchospasm, such as bronchitis and asthma-related congestion.
