Athebody DARPins for T-cell receptor mimetics are engineered protein therapeutics developed by Athebio AG, based on the DARPin (designed ankyrin repeat protein) scaffold. These molecules are designed to mimic the specificity of T-cell receptors (TCRs), enabling them to recognize peptide antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins on tumor cells. Their primary mechanism is to direct immune cells—particularly in immuno-oncology applications—to precisely target and kill tumor cells displaying specific pHLAx markers. The platform leverages the high specificity, stability, and small size of DARPin scaffolds to achieve superior targeting compared to traditional antibodies or small molecules. The technology is being developed in partnership with 3T Biosciences for immuno-oncology indications[1][5][2].
