Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Atlantic cod is a lean fish (Gadus morhua) that has been investigated for its potential health benefits, particularly in individuals with overweight or obesity. Clinical trials have shown that a high intake of Atlantic cod (750 g/week) can reduce serum concentrations of total neopterin, a marker associated with cellular immune activation and cardiovascular disease. It has also been observed to increase serum selenium levels, an essential cofactor for antioxidant enzymes.
