Overview

Atopalm is a therapeutic emollient cream formulated with Multi-Lamellar Emulsion (MLE) technology, designed to repair and maintain the skin's natural lipid barrier. Developed by Neopharm, the MLE technology utilizes a plant-derived pseudoceramide (myristoyl/palmitoyl oxostearamide/arachamide MEA) along with cholesterol and fatty acids in a specific ratio that mimics the lamellar structure of human skin lipids. This structural similarity allows the cream to integrate into the stratum corneum, effectively restoring barrier function, reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and providing protection against environmental triggers. Atopalm is primarily indicated for the management of dry, sensitive skin and as an adjuvant therapy for inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis. Clinical studies, including those conducted by institutions like The First Hospital of Hebei Medical University, have evaluated its efficacy in combination with topical glucocorticoids to improve skin barrier parameters and clinical outcomes in pediatric patients.
