Atorkit ASP 75 is a fixed-dose combination generic medication containing atorvastatin and aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering agent that acts as a competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis, thereby reducing LDL cholesterol levels. Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as an antiplatelet agent by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), preventing the synthesis of thromboxane A2 and subsequent platelet aggregation. This combination is used for the secondary prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, addressing both dyslipidemia and thrombotic risk.
