atorvastatin + simvastatin

Atorvastatin and simvastatin are both statin medications, but there is no approved combination product containing both atorvastatin and simvastatin together in a single pill. Each drug is used to lower cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase in the liver, thereby reducing the production of cholesterol. Statins are prescribed to reduce LDL ('bad') cholesterol, decrease triglycerides, modestly increase HDL ('good') cholesterol, and lower the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke[1][5][6]. Atorvastatin (Lipitor) and simvastatin (Zocor) are typically prescribed individually or in combination with other drugs (e.g., ezetimibe for Vytorin), but not together as a dual statin combination.
