Overview

ATP-IFNα is a drug under preclinical development by Bonum Therapeutics, Inc. for the treatment of neoplasms. It functions through a dual mechanism of action, acting as both an ATPase inhibitor and an IFNAR agonist. The IFNAR agonism involves binding to the Interferon alpha/beta receptor (IFNAR), which triggers the JAK-STAT signaling pathway. This activation leads to the expression of numerous interferon-stimulated genes, resulting in potent antiviral, immunomodulatory, and antiproliferative effects. These effects include inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in tumor cells, enhancing the presentation of viral antigens by upregulating MHC class I molecules, activating natural killer (NK) cells, and promoting the differentiation and activation of dendritic cells, all contributing to enhanced immune responses against cancer cells.
