Overview

ATR-127 is a novel, first-in-class small molecule adrenergic agonist developed by Atrogi AB. It acts as a dual β2- and β3-adrenergic receptor agonist with a unique binding mechanism that allows selective activation of specific downstream signaling pathways. This selective modulation enhances energy expenditure, promotes skeletal muscle glucose uptake, activates brown and beige adipose tissue thermogenesis, and improves metabolic parameters such as glucose homeostasis and hepatic steatosis. Unlike conventional anti-obesity therapies that often cause lean muscle loss and cardiovascular side effects, ATR-127 induces significant weight loss while preserving lean body mass and mitigating cardiovascular risks by preventing excessive cAMP production in cardiac tissue. The drug holds therapeutic promise for treating obesity, diabesity (diabetes with obesity), steatohepatitis (fatty liver inflammation), and associated metabolic complications.
