ATR-258

ATR-258 is a first-in-class, orally administered small molecule developed by Atrogi for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It acts as a selective agonist of the beta-2 adrenergic receptor (β2-adrenoceptor), enabling insulin-independent glucose uptake into skeletal muscle and lowering blood glucose levels. This mechanism addresses the root cause of type 2 diabetes by bypassing dysfunctional insulin pathways, improving glycemic control, and enhancing insulin sensitivity while preserving muscle mass. Preclinical studies demonstrated reversal of hyperglycemia to healthy levels in animal models, and Phase 1 clinical trials have shown safety and tolerability in both healthy volunteers and patients with type 2 diabetes[1][5][6][7].
