Atractylodes lancea root oil

Atractylodes lancea root oil is a plant-derived essential (volatile) oil extracted from the rhizome of Atractylodes lancea, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. The main bioactive components of this essential oil are sesquiterpenes such as hinesol, β-eudesmol, atractylon, and atractylodin. These compounds have demonstrated various pharmacological activities in preclinical studies, including anti-inflammatory, antitumor (notably against cholangiocarcinoma), analgesic, antiviral, gastrointestinal-protective effects, and promotion of chondrogenic differentiation in mesenchymal stem cells. The mechanism of action is believed to involve modulation of inflammatory mediators (such as TNF-alpha and interleukins), inhibition of cancer cell growth via induction of apoptosis and suppression of angiogenesis, as well as regulation of gastrointestinal motility. Atractylodes lancea root oil is used in some over-the-counter topical products but is not an approved pharmaceutical drug for any indication[2][3][5][7].
