Overview

Atrauman Ag is a non-adherent, silver-containing wound contact layer designed for the atraumatic treatment of wounds. It consists of a thin polyamide fabric coated with elemental (metallic) silver and impregnated with neutral triglyceride-based lipids. The dressing acts as an antimicrobial barrier by releasing silver ions upon contact with wound exudate, which are bactericidal at the dressing-wound interface. This local release minimizes cytotoxicity while effectively reducing bacterial bioburden in colonized or critically colonized wounds. Atrauman Ag is indicated for chronic wounds such as venous leg ulcers (ulcus cruris), diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers (decubitus), and acute burns up to second degree. It supports moist wound healing, prevents maceration of wound edges, and allows painless dressing changes due to its non-adherent properties. The product must be used in combination with a suitable secondary absorbent dressing[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
