Overview

Atriplex canescens pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the *Atriplex canescens* plant, commonly known as fourwing saltbush, scale, or wing shad. It is used for the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases such as hay fever and allergic rhinitis. As a diagnostic tool, it is used in skin testing to identify sensitivity to the allergen. As a therapeutic agent, it is used in allergen immunotherapy (desensitization) to reduce the patient's allergic response over time. The product is a non-standardized biologic extract administered via percutaneous or subcutaneous injection and has been approved in the United States since 1941.
