Atriplex wrightii pollen

Atriplex wrightii pollen is a non-standardized allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the Atriplex wrightii plant, also known as Wright's saltbush or annual saltbush. [2, 7] Manufactured by Greer Laboratories, Inc. (a subsidiary of Stallergenes Greer), the extract is used for both the diagnosis and treatment of allergies specific to this pollen. [3, 4, 6] For diagnosis, it is applied via percutaneous (prick) or intradermal skin tests to confirm sensitivity. [4] For treatment, it is administered as subcutaneous immunotherapy (allergy shots) to desensitize the immune system and reduce allergic symptoms in patients with a confirmed allergy. [4, 14, 15] The therapy works by repeatedly exposing the patient to the allergen to induce immunologic tolerance. [14, 15]
