Atropine + ketorolac is an investigational ophthalmic combination therapy being developed by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for the control of myopia progression in schoolchildren. The formulation combines ultra-low concentration atropine (0.01%), a non-selective muscarinic receptor antagonist, with low concentration ketorolac (0.1%), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). While low-dose atropine is a recognized treatment for slowing axial eye growth in myopic children, the addition of ketorolac aims to address potential inflammatory pathways that may contribute to myopia progression. This combination is currently being evaluated in a prospective, randomized clinical trial (NCT03402100) to determine its efficacy and safety compared to monotherapy.
