Overview

This drug is a fixed-dose combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Atropine methonitrate** (also known as methylatropine), a quaternary ammonium derivative of atropine that acts as an antimuscarinic (anticholinergic) agent. It competitively blocks muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, and glandular tissue, leading to bronchodilation and reduction in secretions[6]. - **Isoprenaline sulphate** (also known as isoproterenol sulfate), a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor agonist. It stimulates both beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors, resulting in increased heart rate and contractility (beta-1) and bronchodilation (beta-2)[4][5]. The combination has been studied for the treatment of bronchial asthma and severe reversible airway obstruction not adequately controlled by conventional therapy. Clinical studies have shown that the combination produces greater and more sustained bronchodilation than either drug alone[1][3][7]. Atropine methonitrate provides prolonged anticholinergic bronchodilation while isoprenaline offers rapid beta-mediated relief.
