atropine sulfate

CTO0308 is an investigational low-dose atropine sulfate ophthalmic solution (0.01%) developed by Taejoon Pharmaceutical for the management of myopia progression in pediatric patients. Atropine is a non-selective muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist that has been shown to slow the axial elongation of the eye, which is the primary structural cause of myopia progression in children. By utilizing a low concentration (0.01%), CTO0308 aims to provide therapeutic efficacy in controlling nearsightedness while minimizing common side effects associated with higher doses of atropine, such as photophobia and blurred near vision. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation in South Korea to assess its safety and efficacy in pediatric populations.
