Overview

ATX-MS-1467 is an experimental immunotherapy for multiple sclerosis (MS), specifically relapsing-remitting MS. It is a mixture of four synthetic peptides corresponding to the main immune-dominant T-cell epitopes of myelin basic protein (MBP), a key autoantigen in MS. The therapy aims to induce antigen-specific immune tolerance by selectively modulating the immune response against MBP, thereby reducing harmful autoimmune attacks on myelin sheaths in the central nervous system. Mechanistically, it works by promoting anti-inflammatory cytokine production (notably interleukin 10) and downregulating pro-inflammatory responses such as IL-17 and TNF-alpha. Clinical trials have shown reductions in MRI-detected lesions and trends toward improved functional outcomes with a favorable safety profile. Originally developed by Apitope Technology, development was later continued by Worg Pharmaceuticals after acquisition[1][3][4][5][6][7][9].
