Overview

ATYR0101 is a novel fusion protein derived from a proprietary extracellular domain of aspartyl-tRNA synthetase (DARS), developed by aTyr Pharma. It acts as an anti-fibrotic agent by binding to latent transforming growth factor beta binding protein 1 (LTBP-1), inducing apoptosis in myofibroblasts—key cells responsible for the progression of fibrosis. This mechanism offers a differentiated approach compared to current therapies, with preclinical studies demonstrating significant reduction in fibrotic markers and tissue scarring in models of lung and kidney fibrosis. The drug is currently at the IND-enabling stage for pulmonary fibrosis and has shown potential for broader application across multiple fibrotic diseases[2][3][4][5][6].
