AU-934 is a small molecule therapeutic being developed by Auration Biotech as a non-surgical alternative to tympanotomy tubes for the treatment of chronic otitis media with effusion. The active ingredient, KB-R7785, is a matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor that specifically targets ADAM metallopeptidase domain 17 (ADAM17), also known as TNF-alpha converting enzyme (TACE). AU-934 is formulated in a sustained-release polymer designed to be applied to the tympanic membrane to maintain a controlled perforation, thereby facilitating middle ear ventilation and fluid drainage.
