Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Au DENPs-FA-DTA is a multifunctional nanoparticle-based imaging agent composed of dendrimer-entrapped gold nanoparticles (Au DENPs) functionalized with folic acid (FA) and diatrizoic acid (DTA). The gold nanoparticles are synthesized using G5 dendrimers as templates, subsequently modified with FA to target folate receptor-overexpressing tumor cells (such as HeLa cervical cancer cells), and with DTA to impart iodinated contrast properties. The conjugate is designed for targeted X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging of cancer cells, leveraging both the high X-ray attenuation of gold and targeted cell uptake via FA-receptor binding. The system demonstrates high biocompatibility, minimal cytotoxicity, and specific tumor-targeting capability in vitro and in vivo, allowing visualization of tumors in animal models when administered intravenously or intratumorally. It is not delivered as a conventional therapeutic, but rather as a diagnostic/imaging probe for cancer detection and research applications[1].
